Coming Attractions: Previews of the Kingdom of God

$14.99

As the narrative of 1 Samuel proceeds through the episodes about Hannah, Saul, David and others, God wants us to learn something new or affirm something old. In fact what the reader learns are the
same principles that a contemporary person of faith needs to learn when encountering the God of Samuel and David. The contemporary relevance of these ancient stories is what makes the entire narrative so intriguing.

The trials and victories that the individuals faced revealed much about the God they served, opened up new ways of life, moved Israel closer to her destiny, and provided the foundation for kingdom living fully revealed in Christ. In First Samuel as each character experienced more of God’s ways, every encounter revealed new aspects of salvation history, and as the episodes unfolded, God was previewing the Kingdom established by Jesus Christ.

Description

AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY:

For thirty-eight years I served as the pulpit minister for Churches of Christ in Massachusetts and New Jersey and presently as the interim minister for the Northwest Church of Christ in Colorado. In addition to preaching and teaching , I’ve written Bible school material and published book reviews in publications affiliated with Churches of Christ and Christian Churches: Restoration Quarterly and The Stone-Campbell Journal.

My degree work began with an Associate Degree from Northeastern Christian Junior College and then a BA in English from Missouri State University. I added an MAR with Old Testament emphasis from Harding School of Theology and in 2014 received an MA in Professional Writing from New England College.

This website (homepage: www.wordsdr.com) has a Portfolio page with samples of my writing, and it is the home site for my writing business , Words Done Right LLC. Not only have I taught writing classes for a local community college, but I also offer private tutoring in writing and public speaking. I am available to speak about my book, to substitute in local pulpits, and to present material on how to communicate effectively as a public speaker.

You will find two blogs on the site: The WDR Blog and The Lazarus Chronicles. On the first, my articles help others facilitate better communication skills, and on the second you’ll read my thoughts on various Bible passages along with articles relating Christianity to economic, social, and political issues of the day.

I have been married to Janet for forty-six years, and we have two sons along with four grandsons. I was born and raised in Baltimore, served three years in the US Army, and have lived in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Massachusetts, and New Jersey. We moved to Colorado several years ago to be near family.
