I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. A year out of high school revealed to me that I wasn’t ready for college, so I enlisted in the Army. I served for three years, two of which were spent on Okinawa, Japan. Several years after my discharge, I took up college again earning a BA in English from Missouri State University and an MAR in Religious Studies from Harding School of Theology.
I have been happily married to Janet Weber for thirty-seven years, and we have two sons and two grandsons. I’ve served as a minister for Churches of Christ in Massachusetts and New Jersey but recently have sought to parlay my experience as a minister into a writing career to carry me into another phase of my life.
Skills
In 2013 I founded the company, Words Done Right, LLC, and in July 2014 I completed my MA in Professional Writing from New England College. Combined with an undergraduate degree in English and my experience in teaching, public speaking, and writing for the last 34 years I am now offering my services to help businesses and individuals communicate their ideas with clarity and precision. My experience for over thirty years of teaching, speaking, and personal counseling has given me many insights how to communicate through the spoken and written word, as well as some unique experience in developing good people skills.
The Right Word, Not The Almost Right Word
My writing and communication work is founded upon a quote from Mark Twain: “The difference between the right word and the almost right word . . . the difference between the lightning and the lightning bug.” Words and the meaning of words are important. Constructing words into ideas in only the almost right way can mean misunderstanding for your readers or listeners. I’m confident that I can help your business, blog, website, article, or speech say exactly what you want.
